Well, our yard sale was a great success on Saturday, and it’s one step closer to “destination: Thailand.” As I was looking at our page, I was thinking that if you did not receive our newsletter, then you wouldn’t know what our whole purpose for moving a family of 5 to the other side of the world is for anyhow! :) I’m still working on getting the newsletter posted on the website…keeping checking back and it will be there eventually.
The cool thing about this blogging thing, is that I can type as much as I want and it really doesn’t matter b/c you can stop reading whenever you desire, no worries!
Back to the Thailand thing now….8 years ago I went to Thailand on a school mission trip for 3 weeks, and ended up going back the next year for 8 months. I absolutely loved it, and have been pursuing going back there ever since I left in November of ‘01. God certainly has a journey for us that we never could figure out and most times we don’t understand, but His way is the best, so I would not change the past 7 years for anything b/c He has done an awesome work in my life that needed to happen before I ever set foot back in the 10/40 window for a permenant stay.
Now that those things have happened in my life, the green light is there to move forward, as we obviously are. We will be working with Todd and Julie Powers; who were the Deans of the school Brooke and I both attended in Ft. Worth, TX. I’ve known them now for 10 years, crazy! They have been in Thailand for 5 years and they do a lot of leadership training for pastors and ministry leaders to go out and minster the Gospel in every area of life. They are also involved with several orphanges that help rescue children from the prostitution ring, and other various family crisis. You can check out their website, the link is to your right under “blogroll.”
Brooke and I will be involved with what they do, and even some other ideas we have in our heart concerning the International school that is close to where we’ll live and Chaing Mai also has 2 universities that would be awesome to reach out to. There certainly is not a lack of options for ministry need. Not only do these things take place in Thailand, but they also have works in Pakistan and Burma.
Ultimately we seek the wisdom of the Lord about what He would have us focus on, and that is what we’ll do! Please jot down some of these things to pray about..(i.e. the orphanages, schools, the countries of Thailand, Burma, and Pakistan.)
Thank you for taking the time to check out what the Lord is doing in our life.
God Bless,
Rick
